Almog Barzilay Rozenpik

A multidisciplinary artist, working mainly in the medias of performance, video art, installation, drawing and words.  A BFA Graduate from "Bezalel Academy of Arts and Design", Jerusalem Israel. A "Meisterschülerin in the Weissenhof – program" scholarship holder, at the fine arts academy, Stuttgart Germany, as well as an academic tutor in the filled of fine arts, teaching curses subjected as "the process of the observing artist". Dealing with creating a deep self-observation process of the artists about themselves as artists and over their artistic practice, by using of tools from yoga practice.

My works are based on my own body image, and immediate social circles, and deal with the relationships between myself and the world, between the artist and the viewer, between the object being looked at and the subject creating the content, between intimacy and 'the other' and between familiarity with foreignness. In Practicing art with various media, practicing 'Ashtanga Yoga' yoga, alongside teaching yoga and delving into the philosophical field from the Eastern and Western cultures, I create a physical and artistic language that combines these subjects. By using this language, and through documentary means, I create a hybrid between simple life, the human body, material and theory.

By using the physical gallery space, and combining 2D digital media with 3D analog media, I go back in time, to the era before social media, and create situations that can only be experienced in an unmediated manner in real life. The painting documents the fleeting moments, the video comes out of the screen and exists only in the physical space, and the performance is recorded to become timeless. I play with feelings of conflict, tension, and ease between myself and the viewer, I use living familiar images and position the viewer in a space that exists on the fine line between intimacy and alienation.

My works are an image of life. A peek into my personal, everyday life. This is based on the belief that life by itself is art, body is art, all is art.
